During 2018, I worked with the GLOBE Program as a photographer, educator, and digital media specialist for their Zika Prevention and Education Project. I traveled to Vietnam and Peru to document their Regional Mosquito Training conferences, and to Ireland to photograph the GLOBE Learning Expedition. I also led a video production workshop for students that included a video technique workbook and the production of tutorial videos for the OpenShot video editor. Using student created content I assisted in the development of a Google Voyager Story.
The Institute of Accounting and Economic Development, or IAED, is the creation of my long time friend from Namibia, Pontianus Mukishi. Pontianus and I met while I was teaching science with the Peace Corps in Namibia's Kavango Region and we've stayed in touch ever since. I have traveled to Namibia three times to document Ponty's work with IAED through photography, video, and interviews. You can learn more about Ponty's work through his website at www.iaed.co.
Over two summers I traveled to the Cochabamba Department of Bolivia with Bridges To Prosperity engineering teams from Colorado, Michigan, and North Carolina. In addition to documenting their work and interactions with the local communities, I led pre-trip cross-cultural training workshops and conducted onsite interviews with the team to capture their experiences and emotions abroad. While in the field I posted photos and updated a photo blog. Post trip, I created a video describing the cultural lessons the engineering team learned from their Bolivian colleagues.
I have provided photography or video work to the Peace Corps, National Peace Corps Association, GLOBE Program, Progressive Change Campaign Committee, Engineers Without Borders USA, Build Change, Regis University, Bridges To Prosperity, Elephant Energy, New Dimension of Hope, University of Colorado Boulder, Promote Africa, Buffalo Bicycle Classic, The Tranquilo Traveler, Awen Productions, and ARISE Music Festival. My work has appeared on National Geographic, MSNBC, and The Weather Channel.
